Yes this is usually the case. The more obscure brand name televisions are usually sold in national chain stores. These TVs are known as second or third tier televisions in the industry. Second and third tier televisions are assembled with parts from China, usually from the lowest bidder. The biggest problem consumers have had with these products aside from picture quality and reliability is repair service. More often than not when these units fail parts have not been available from the manufacturer. Leaving the the customer with a non repairable television. Second and third tier television will usually be cheaper off the shelf but the trade off will be in performance, reliability, and service when compared to the more established names in the industry. High definition television has a dramatically clearer picture than the analog televisions most of us grew up watching by way of a digital signal that offers much higher resolution and the absence of noticeable analog scanning lines, plus the absence of video noise and artifacts that currently plague analog TV signals. Bottom line, HDTV offers you an extemely realistic picture quality.   « less
